Butt, who caught 21 passes for 211 yards and two touchdowns as a sophomore, enters 2015 as U-M’s top career receptions leader with 42 catches for 446 yards and four touchdowns. He appeared in ten games as sophomore, making five starts.
As a freshman, Butt caught 20 passes for 235 yards with two touchdowns. Much was expected of Butt heading into his sophomore season, however, he was sidetracked with an ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) tear in is knee during 2014 spring camp. Although, he was able to salvage what looked like a possible lost season, by making his comeback in week 3 at Notre Dame.
The 2015 John Mackey Award will be announced on Dec. 9, 2015, and will be handed out the following night on ESPNU for its annual Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show.
Michigan opens up its season on Sept. 3, at Utah.
