Concord (Calif.) De La Salle 2016 DT Boss Tagaloa has come nice options when it comes to planning his official visits.
“I’m taking all five of my official visits,” he said. “(Planning to) commit on signing day.”
Why is Michigan one of his final five schools he hopes to visit? Well, U-M’s hire of Jim Harbaugh of course.
“I really started considering (Michigan) once Jim Harbaugh got the job,” he admitted. “Now I talk with Coach Harbaugh and his son, (Jay Harbugh), Coach Jay.”
At first Tagaloa says Michigan recruited him at center, a position he has never played. Since then, however, the Wolverines have made an emphasis to recruit him at his favorite position group – defensive line.
“They came back and said defensive line is where it is at,” he said.
Now, he is taking an even more interest to Michigan on and off the field.
“Just the school (Michigan) itself, my counselors say getting a diploma from Michigan is almost as good as getting one from Stanford,” he added.
Being a California native, and looking at schools like Michigan and Alabama, is distance going to be a factor in Tagaloa’s recruitment?
“I’m not really too concerned with the distance,” he said. “It would be nice to stay close to home. But I am willing to play wherever I feel most comfortable.”
Although, there are going to be some other deciding factors in his final decision, he says.
“Mostly just life after football,” he said. “I want a school that will give me the best education. If football doesn’t work out for me, it will give me the best education where I will have something to fall back on.”
