That’s not surprising, considering it was his first power-five conference offer. However, since then the rising four-star standout has continued to build his bond with Michigan and its coaching staff.
His relationship with U-M took another big step during Michigan’s annual recruiting bonanza – Barbecue at the Big House – on Sunday.
“I got to see a lot of the campus,” he said. “We took a couple pictures. It was fun. I met all the recruits. I had a great time.
“We had two committed lineman that was with us the whole time. They basically said ‘think about, talk over it with somebody, and go for what is best for you. Just do it.’”
After his latest visit to Michigan, McCall admits Michigan has made a quite the impression.
“It’s a good school,” he said of U-M. “I really like that school, beecause my uncle went there. If it had to come down to it, I would go there. I’m just sitting back right now and letting things come to me.
“I want to get to know their players more, their coaches more, just the whole school,” he said. “It’s a good school in all. I like how they are set up. Just really get to know more people better.”
One coach has already stuck out early on his recruitment with Michigan, that , of course, is offensive line coach Tim Drevno.
“He’s a real good coach,” he said of Drevno. “He’s funny. He actually sits down and talks to you. He’s not rude or nothing. He’s a real coach and tells you what’s up.”
