The transfer comes after weeks of speculation whether Norfleeta a Detroit King High School product, was released from his scholarship or whether he was suspended for an unknown period of time. Norfleet was left off U-M’s official fall roster.
Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh, during a media session with reporters recently, was asked about Norfleet’s status heading into camp.
“A plan was put into place for Dennis to where he could accomplish all of his goals athletically and academically,” Harbaugh said. “Our desire is that he gets his Michigan degree and that plan hadn’t changed from our viewpoint in the conversations that I’ve had with Dennis. That’s where it stands.”
Norfleet holds the U-M record for total kickoff returns with 90 and recorded 2,303 return yards, the most in program history.
