Levi Onwuzurike has plenty of options to choose from when it comes to selecting his collegiaite home, and University of Michigan is one of the top contenders. The Wolverines have made it a point to stay top of mind with the Allen (Tex.) star since he took his official visit last month with frequent correspondence, and Michigan defensive line coach Greg Mattison made it to his school during the bye week. All told the Maize & Blue has definitely improved its chances of becoming the victor.
"It went great and I did a lot there," Onwuzurike said reflecting upon his official visit. "I took a campus tour and the whole place looked nice. I talked to Coach Mattison and Coach Harbaugh. Both were nice genuine people and laughed a lot with them. They just said that I will fit into their program."
"They are pretty high up on my list. It is obviously a great school, but I like the coaching staff and they give a good home feeling."
The 6-3, 250-pounder currently has a top list of Washington, TCU, Georgia, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Michigan, Texas Tech, Arkansas, Baylor, Oregon, Arizona State and SMU. With so many suitors, Onwuzurike plans to use his connection with the respective coaches as an effective way to weed out the best of the bunch. Based on his bond with Mattison it appears the Wolverines are a good bet to be in it until the end.
"(Our relationship) is a great one," said Onwuzurike. "I think he's just a nice funny guy. He is really passionate about his players. I talked to Coach Harbaugh and Coach Mattison (Wednesday). They just talked to me about my game (Friday) and wished me some good luck. They are just real easy to talk too. They are just easy going guys."
Onwuzurike still has plans to take an official visit to Baylor and will look to make his commitment known after the football season.
