PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas – Led by Caris LeVert’s 19 points, Michigan defeated Texas 78-72 Friday to finish fifth-place in the Battle 4 Atlantis.
Michigan (4-2) never trailed and led by as many as 13 before a late Texas (2-3) rally cut the Wolverines deficit to 67-66 with 4:26 remaining, before LeVert hit two big buckets and Zak Irvin sealed the game with a pull-up three-pointer, as U-M ended the game on a 11-4 run.
U-M’s Duncan Robinson scored 14 points on 4-of-5 shooting from 3-point range. Irvin and Derrick Walton Jr. each finished with 13 points.
Michigan shot 14-of-25 from beyond the arc, at a 56.0 percent rate.
Isaiah Taylor led the Longhorns with 18 points. Cameron Ridely added 12 points with eight rebounds.
Michigan next plays at North Carolina State on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
