Saturday Tidbits

Today's MHSAA's high school all-star game; today's U-M Recruiting Open House.

First the MHSAA's high school all-star game, played today at Spartan Stadium at 2PM. Incoming U-M freshman Lamarr Woodley is not playing ("He's been in Florida the past two weeks visiting relatives," Lamarr's father told me last night). We'll see if that means Lamarr's former Saginaw High teammate Jerome Jackson will play -- only one guy per school can be chosen. Incoming O-lineman Jake Long is playing, his dad told us last night. And incoming walk-on Jeff Jansen is expected to play as well.

Regarding today's Michigan Recruiting Open House. This is a 'typical unofficial visit' event, except for a group of kids all at once. The attendees and their parents see the athletic facilities, talk to the U-M coaches, tour the campus, and get academic presentations. Highly regarded prospects who have said they planned to attend include:

- WR/DB Michael Bell (2003 U-M Camper, U-M Nike stats: 5-11, 172 lbs., 4.60 in the 40, 9 bench press reps., 32.4 inch vertical, 4.29 sec. Shuttle, 2.9 GPA/19 ACT) from Shaker Heights, Oh. (Cleveland area). He is TheInsiders' #48 Midwest prospect.

- TE/DE Jason Chapman (2003 U-M Camp visitor, 6-4, 240 lbs., 300 lb. bench press, 3.0 GPA) from Bedford, Ohio.

- DL Xavier Fulton (6-5, 265 lbs., 4.8 in the 40) from Homewood, Ill., Homewood-Flossmoor. He is TheInsiders' #70 Midwest prospect.

We will see if anyone come away from the Open House with a Michigan scholarship offer in hand. The last guy to commit to Michigan at this event: Kyle Ealey a few years back.
