Michigan DE Chris Wormley discusses U-M’s mindset as they prepare for Florida and more.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – With one game left this season, Michigan still has much to prove as they play Florida on New Years Day in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, says Chris Wormley, who noted the Wolverines struggles defensively in their 42-13 loss at home against Ohio State.

“You get to prove yourself every week, especially coming off a week like we did against Ohio State, this Florida game will be a big test for us and it will be a good way to show everyone that kid of game is something that doesn’t normally happen around here,” Wormley said.

Adding: “It’s definitely a prideful thing, you don’t want your last game to be an Ohio State game where they rushed for almost 400 yards on us.”

Bowl season means U-M will get 15 more practices to improve, this year and good way of doing that is having the first team offense square off against the first team defense, says Wormley, even if it is for only 10 minutes or so during practice.

“When you’re going ones against ones, you’re going against the best,” Wormley said. “That’s probably when you prove the most. So hopefully in bowl practice we get a little more of that to improve our game for the bowl game.”

SEC has been the dominant conference in college football the past 10 years, however, Wormley thinks this is great opportunity for the Big Ten to show it can compete as the best conference in the country.

“I think it’s been the past 10 years or so, and everybody is talking about how the SEC is the best conference in the nation,” Wormley said. “Then you have three opportunities for the Big Ten to beat an SEC team, so we win all three of those games and a I think that puts us in a good position to be an argument in the best conference in the nation.”
