Chat with Jeff Jansen

Future walk-on Jeff Jansen took a little time out after the Michigan High School All Star game to chat with me about his summer and his reasons for picking UM.

Have you been up to UM to work out this summer?

"Right now, because I'm a walk-on, I can't actually work out with them, but I am running up there by myself and I'm actually doing a program on the internet that they gave me."

What other schools did you consider before you decided on Michigan?

"I considered Toledo, Stanford, Michigan State, and Northwestern."

Had any of those schools offered you a scholarship?

"I had an offer from Toledo. Stanford was very close. I had to be admitted before they offered me, but by that time I decided to go to Michigan."

What was it about Michigan that made you decide to walk on there versus accepting a scholarship at Toledo or Stanford?

"I have had a dream my entire life to go to Michigan and play in that stadium. I've just been a Michigan fan my entire life. I've gone to all of the games since I was four."

What were your stats from last season?

"I broke six school records. I had 489 career tackles and for the season I had 162 tackles."

What about academics?

"My GPA was a 4.0 in all AP courses and I had a 25 on the ACT."

One has to appreciate this young man's love for the maize and blue. I think he'll register a tackle or two before his playing days are done!
