ORLANDO, Fla. -- After putting in work at his first Under Armour All-American Game practice, Jean Delance admitted he had a “solid” top-three of Michigan, Texas and LSU as he prepares to announce his commitment during Saturday’s game.
However, he also added he still has yet to make up his mind, saying he will meet with his family this Thursday and Friday to narrow down his it to his final school.
Delance, who stars at North (Texas) Mesquite High, was on Michigan’s campus earlier this month for an official visit. And the message was clear by U-M’s headman Jim Harbaugh: he’s wanted in Ann Arbor.
“Coach (Harbaugh) prefers me to be that left tackle up on campus,” Delance said of U-M. “He wants me to come in there and start right away and compete. And they got a lot of seniors that are going on and graduating and probably going on to the next level.”
Adding: “Coach Harbaugh came in there one year and look at what he does,” Delance said. “So that speaks volumes by itself.”
What would it take for Delance to consider moving all the way up to Ann Arbor?
“Seeing these other guys committed form Florida, New Jersey, it says a lot,” Delance said. “If they are believing in it, then that’s a top class right there in just two or three more guys.”
Delance had this to say about Texas and LSU.
“Texas is right down the street from my house,” he said. “(In my) home state, that’s what people want me to do. But I got to follow my own dreams, make my own destiny. Same thing, LSU is not too far. It’s a great program. Coach (Les) Miles people said he wasn’t going to stay, but I heard otherwise and I know. Coach Miles is going to get it done there, he’s been there a long time.”
