AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – On Friday, Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh stopped by Detroit Cass (Mich.) Tech for one of his many recruiting stops this month.
During his visit, the Michigan headman also made time to extend his latest offer to 2018 CB Kalon Gervin, ho joins fellow teammates (2017 prospects) Jaylen Kelly-Powell and Donovan Peoples-Jones with offers from the Wolverines.
“Actually coach Harbaugh came up to the school and told coach (Thomas) Wilcher,” Gervin recalled. “And it just went from there.”
What was his initial reaction when he heard the news from coach Wilcher? Well, Gervin admits he did get a little emotional.
“I was excited, I was real excited,” Gervin said. “I wasn’t surprised, but I was like ‘wow!’ But I kind of figured they were watching me."
Along with the Wolverines, Gervin also holds notable offers from Illinois, Iowa State, Toledo and Akron among others. However, now that Michigan has offered, the maize and blue sit near the top of his offer sheet, he says.
“They’re high, they might be the number one (offer),” Gervin said. “They might be top.”
Now that he holds his U-M offer, Gervin says his next plan is to visit Michigan in the near future.
“(I want to talk to) coach Harbaugh and (defensive back) coaches,” Gervin said when asked what he’ll be looking for on his visit to U-M.
At 5-foot-11, 170-pounds, Gervin says he’s a cornerback first, that can play a little bit of nickel back as well.
Said Gervin: “(I bring) speed, speed. Great cover skills. Great ball skills. Scrappy, I’m a real scrappy player.”
Coming up, Gervin says he plans on visiting Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa State and Penn State.
