Toledo (Ohio) St. John's Jesuit 2018 LB Dallas Gant talks Michigan interest and more.

Toledo (Ohio) St. John's Jesuit 2018 LB Dallas Gant discusses his interest in Michigan, other schools standing out in his recruitment and more.

Toledo (Ohio) St. John’s Jesuit 2018 linebacker Dallas Gant has a familiar name when it comes to Michigan football.

After all, his cousin, Allen Gant, just finished his four years at U-M after deciding to play his fifth year as a graduate transfer on Friday.

However, that being said, if offered, Gant admits a Michigan would mean something special  in his recruitment.

"It would be a blessing to be recruited by anybody, especially the Wolverines,” Gant said, who noted his father as a regular spectator attending his cousin’s games during his U-M career.

“My dad grew up a Michigan fan and still is,” Gant said. “He's been up there several times, but I've always had games or practice that day, so I haven't been able to go with him."

Gant is coming off a strong sophomore campaign, finishing 90 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, and one forced fumble in eight games played.

And top schools have taken notice too, with Kentucky and Toledo already extending offers his way.

“I have two offers right now from Kentucky and Toledo,” Gant said. “I've visited Kentucky, Michigan State, Ohio State, and Notre Dame."

Is there one school he likes more that the other?

"I liked watching Michigan State (growing up,” Gant said. “I like Notre Dame and watching DeShone Kizer since he went to Toledo Central.  I like watching Toledo also."
