SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Washington (D.C.) Archbishop Carroll 2017 cornerback Deon Jones was on hand earlier this month for U.S. Army Junior Combine.
But unlike most attendees, Jones is already decorated with 27 offers to date.
Afterwards, he spoke to The Michigan Insider, where he updated his recruitment with the latest schools sticking out in his recruitment.
“Florida, Florida State, Clemson, Michigan State, Ohio State and Virginia Tech,” he said were some his top notable schools right now, admitting he couldn’t remember the rest.
While his list of schools is long, he went into more detail about Big Ten powers Michigan State and Ohio State.
“I like Michigan State’s defensive backs,” he said of the Spartans. “The last few years they have been putting DB’s into the league, and they balled out.”
Adding his thoughts on OSU: “And Ohio State, I just love Ohio State. I saw their game against Virginia Tech and they balled out all round the field.”
Jones said he hasn’t heard from Michigan as of yet, but if the Wolverines showed him some interest he would “definitely” listen.
In the meantime, Jones says he’s looking for academic-first program that has a family style environment.
“I am definitely looking at academics, that’s first,” Jones said. “Then how the team treats me and my family. And the league (conference) of course.”
