HIS RECRUITNG STORY:
Josh Metellus started a commitmnet trend, becoming the first of three Pembroke Pines (Fla.) Flanagan teammates, with both Devin Gil and Devin Bush Jr. committing to U-M’s 2016 class. Metellus came on the scene when Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh saw him in person in part of his “Summer Swarm Tour” at his high school last June, he came up for a visit and commited during his trip to Ann Arbor.
“Measuring in at a chiseled 6-foot, 190 pounds, Metellus passes the eye test in the secondary and took the field with the Florida Fire at the IMG 7-on-7 National Championship (in June). He's a smart football player who does his assignment with nice instincts and awareness, but Metellus' best football comes when he straps on the pads.” - Florida Recruiting Analyst Corey Bender
WHY METELLUS CHOSE MICHIGAN?
“I really love the coaches,” Metellus said days after his commitment. “Coach Harbaugh is pretty cool and he knows how to win. I just feel comfortable in his hands playing there.”
Metellus is one of the under-the-radar recruits in this class. While he wasn’t recruited nationally, Metellus brings with him the south Florida speed that U-M has lacked in past years. He might be a redshirt candidate, but there will be a ton of opportunity to play at the back of the defense in 2017. So a year of development might do him some good.
