Yet another New Jersey product, wide out Brad Hawkins could be a true deep threat for the Wolverines in the 2016 class.

His Recruiting Story:

The courtship of Brad Hawkins began early on in his recruitment as the New Jersey product commanded several big time offers as early as two years ago. Brad Hawkins picked up offers from Rutgers, Michigan State and Michigan. After visiting the Wolverines, Hawkins didn't wait long to commit to Michigan, offering up his verbal back in early July.

Scouting Report:

Hawkins is one of the top receivers in the East's 2016 class because of his combination of size, acceleration off the of scrimmage, his ball-tracking skills and his ability to use his body to shield defenders. He is physical and catches the ball at its highest point. He goes over the middle and can out leap defenders to make catches, and he is tough to bring down after the catch. If his speed improves, he will be the total package. -- Brian Dohn

Why Michigan?

Hawkins head coach spoke with Scout.com about Hawkins decision, adding it was important for him and teammate Ron Johnson to play together at the next level:

“He gelled really well with the coaches and he liked the vibe with the coaches,” Camden coach Dwayne Savage said. “He felt like (coach Jim) Harbaugh was down to earth, and with all the former NFL coaches, he feels that might be his best chance to get to the next level.”

“To be honest with you, we put it out there Day One that these guys want to play together,” Savage said. “They possibly want to be roommates for that comfort level they have with each other.”

Bottom Line:

While performing and performing well at the college level will be very important for Hawkins, the four-star talent believes Jim Harbaugh and the coaching staff at Michigan give him the best opportunity to prepare for the NFL.
