Michigan State took the only meeting between the rivals, topping Michigan 89-73 at Crisler Center.

A rough week for Michigan Wolverines got even longer Saturday afternoon as Michigan State walked out of Crisler Center with an 89-73 win.

In the only meeting between these two this season, the Wolverines looked over matched as the Spartans were led by a game high 29-points from senior sharp shooter Brynn Forbes. Forbes hit seven of his eight three-pointers in the first half alone.

Playing quarterback for Michigan State, senior Denzel Valentine flirted with a triple double, 21-points, nine rebounds and eight assists to push the Spartans to a 30-point advantage in the second half.

Michigan struggled right out of the gate defensively as Michigan State raced out to a 19-9 lead, the Wolverines switching from man-to-man to a 1-3-1 zone, neither able to slow the Spartans barrage from outside.

The Wolverines were led by 19-points out of junior wing Zak Irvin as Michigan will look to regroup this week following two double digit home losses to Indiana and Michigan State.

Michigan next heads to Minnesota Wednesday to take on a Golden Gophers team yet to win a conference game this season.
