Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech High School produces top talent year in and year out, and 2017 won't be any different. Michigan is again targeting many of the Technichians' best, and the latest to receive an offer from the Maize & Blue is junior offensive guard Jordan Reid.
“(Offensive Coordinator/Line) Coach (Tim) Drevno came up to the school, but we couldn't really talk due to the NCAA rules,” Reid told The Michigan Insider. “Later that day I called him and thanked him for coming to visit, and then he told me he watched my film and liked the way I played and move on the field. He said, 'you're the type (of player) we would love to have at the University of Michigan. Then he offered me.”
“I was very shocked and excited because it's was my first Big Ten offer and from a school in-state. I grew up a fan of them.”
Another feather in the Wolverines' cap is the presence of Reid's former offensive linemate Michael Onwenu, who signed with Michigan earlier this month. The possibility of teaming back up in Ann Arbor has crossed the Motor City standout's mind.
“Me and Big Mike are close friends on and off the field," said Reid. "Yeah, it does interest me in playing with him. We have talked about it, but my options are wide open and I still have another season to play.”
Reid also noted he plans on visiting Michigan in the future, but no firm date has been set as of now.
