The Wolverines are the latest offer for Huntington (W.V.) High junior offensive lineman Billy Ross, who didn’t see it coming and talks about his shocking new offer.

Huntington (W.V.) High School junior offensive lineman Billy Ross is seeing an increase in his recruiting process of late, picking up several offers just this past week. That hot streak only continued when the Michigan Wolverines came calling.

“I was surprised big time,” Ross told The Michigan Insider. “I'd never talked to the coaches and my coach handed me the phone and said, 'it's Michigan.' They then offered me and I was just like wow, because they're a big time program.

"I talked to Coach (Tim) Drevno and we couldn't talk long because I had to get to class. It's just such an honor and blessing.”

Now with that Michigan offer in hand, the 6-foot-5, 295-pound blocking machine plans to see everything he can possibly see about the Wolverines program.

“I’m very interested (in Michigan),” Ross said. “I want to take a visit up there and see everything and go from there.”

“I know it's a great school with an awesome football program. I like that I'd play in front of 100,000 people every Saturday and have one of the best coaches in the nation.”

The much discussed and oft criticized week of spring practice Michigan will spend in Florida was enough to draw the attention of Ross.

Coincidentally, Ross will be there that week as well.

“They will be at IMG Academy next week and I will be too because I'm training down there, so I will watch them practice,” he said.

Despite landing the offer from Michigan, Ross is still claiming no early favorites in his recruitment.

“I'm still wide open,” Ross said. “Too early to say any leaders.”
