K.J. Hamler talks recruitment, Wolverines

Scout 300 in-state prospect, junior wide receiver K.J. Hamler discusses the latest in his recruitment and his thoughts on Michigan.

Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary’s Prep junior wide receiver K.J. Hamler is considered one of the top playmakers in the Midwest. Many schools are involved in his recruitment including the hometown Wolverines.

Although Michigan hasn't reached out to Hamler recently, the interest in the home state program is alive and well.

“I have not heard from Michigan recently,” Hamler told The Michigan Insider. “(Linebackers Coach (Chris) Partridge and I haven’t talked to him in a few, but he’s a really good guy. They are still one of my top schools on my list, so I’m still very interested.”

The five-foot-eight, 150-pound speedster has also taken notice of Michigan’s great start to their 2017 recruiting class and thinks highly of what headman Jim Harbaugh is creating in Ann Arbor.

“I think it’s pretty good and once Harbaugh gets ahold of them, then they will be unstoppable,” said Hamler.

Right now, Hamler isn’t ready to narrow down his list of suitors but when that times does come around, he will know the main factors for his consideration.

“I don’t have a top pick of schools yet,” said Hamler. “I won’t make that or decide that until my senior year. I just need to take more visits to schools. See how they will play me, if the school fits me education wise and if I’m comfortable with the coaches.”
