Along with his Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech teammates, 2018 cornerback Kalon Gervin braved the bad weather conditions and took in an unofficial visit to Michigan on Wednesday evening for the Wolverine basketball game.
“It was great,” Gervin said of his visit. “When we first got there, we went to coach (Jim) Harbaugh’s office. Then we went out and talked to the position coaches, then watched the game.”
That’s when the rising sophomore had his chance to socialize with U-M’s defensive staff.
“I talked to coach (Mike Zordich) and coach (Don) Brown,” Gervin said. “Just talking to coach Brown, he was excited to meet me and stuff like that.”
That being said, is Gervin starting to feel a certain bond with Michigan?
“Yeah,” Gervin said. “Especially with coach Zordich, he wants me to come up there more. He said he wants to see me in a Michigan Wolverine uniform.”
Adding: “Coach Brown told me to get down to a spring practice (too). He said I can stop by anytime.”
Currently, Gervin doesn’t have a leader in his recruitment. However, he says Michigan, Tennessee and Pittsburgh are standing out above the rest. He also noted he will be visiting Michigan State and Penn State coming up soon.
In the meantime, Gervin says he would like to continue to learn more about U-M and what it has to offer besides football.
“Everybody loves Michigan,” Gervin said. “What I want to do is look more into the education aspect. I know Michigan has a great education. I just want to look more into it and see what they have to offer as far as what I am (majoring) in.”
