Michigan has cast a wide net of offers in the 2017 class. The latest to receive a U-M offer is one of the nation’s top offensive linemen in Jackson (Tenn.) junior offensive tackle Trey Smith.

The U-M offer was one he was hoping to receive.

“(Tight Ends) Coach Jay Harbaugh followed me on Twitter then direct messaged me to call him,” Smith told The Michigan Insider. “I called him and he informed me I had an offer to the University of Michigan. I was sorta relieved. Michigan was an offer I really wanted so it's was awesome to finally get it. It was one I was waiting for.”

The massive and intimidating 6-6, 300-pounder holds over double digit offers from some of the country’s elite programs, but his Wolverine offer has him very excited in what Jim Harbaugh and the Maize and Blue have to offer.

“I’m absolutely interested (in the Wolverines,)” said Smith. “They're on the track for success for sure. (Head) Coach (Jim) Harbaugh is unique in his recruiting style. Satellite camps and so forth also IMG Academy in the spring. I like him. He's definitely different from many coaches I've seen. They are getting recruits and national headlines. They are also a great school for my major (sports management).”

Scout’s No. 47 overall rated prospect also hopes to get up to Ann Arbor in the future too.

“I do (plan to visit),” said Smith. "Either in April or during season.”
