2017 Cincinnati (Ohio) Colerain OL/DL Howard Watkins is a lifelong Michigan fan.

Cincinnati (Ohio) Colerain junior two-way lineman Howard Watkins discusses his recent trip to Michigan, his conversation with defensive line coach Greg Mattison, and more.

Michigan hosted several prospects on campus Saturday including a few from the Buckeye State. One of those recruits was 2017 Cincinnati Colerain two-way lineman Howard Watkins.

“It was great,” Watkins told The Michigan Insider. “First I got shown the Bo Schembechler facility and went on a tour with (Michigan staffers), one of them being Antonio Poole. We then got to watch practice in the big house and got to meet and talk with all the coaches, but especially (defensive line) Coach (Greg) Mattison.”

The Wolverines painted the 6-5, 271-pounder a pretty desirable picture of what life in the winged helmet would be like.

“It's was good,” said Watkins. “I really like what he said to me and how he talked to me, so I'd love to be coached by him. He said that he would love to coach me and said imagine me and Rashan Gary playing with each other on the line together. I was like, ‘wow I could be playing with the number one recruit in the nation and the best defense tackle.’  So that would be pretty cool… and in the Big House too!”

Indiana is the talented youngster’s biggest offer to date, but he anticipates many more joining the fold and definitely hopes Michigan will be one of them.

“I already love Michigan because growing up I was a Michigan fan myself but seeing the campus and all the amazing facilities just blew my mind,” said Watkins. “Getting an offer from them would be an honor just like all my other offers. That would mean a lot my favorite school offered me and too me not a lot of people can say that honestly.”

Watkins plans on visiting Notre Dame, Cincinnati, Purdue and back to Michigan for the spring game.
