Is Al Horford On Michigan's Radar?

Grand Ledge (MI) Power Forward Al Horford had big time performances on the July Camp circuit. The young man silenced quite a few critics with his aggressive play over that period. In my previous conversations with him he indicated that Michigan had not been contacting him as much as other schools. Has that changed? Click for more.

One of the open gym visitors last night was none other than Al Horford. Just as he had done in the camps last month, sources informed me that he was extremely assertive in the paint and looked like belonged in the post with big time collegiate players. After he returned home I caught up with him to find out the latest in his recruitment.

I heard that you were impressive at the open gym you attended. How do you think you did?

"I think I did all right."

What players stood out to you while you were there?

"I was really impressed with Lester Abram."

You told me before that you hadn't heard much from Michigan. Has that changed?

"I got that cleared up. I guess Coach Amaker and the staff had been talking to my high school coach, but he never told me anything so I figured that they weren't interested in me. We got things straightened out and I guess they ARE interested."

So where does that put Michigan on your list? Does that move them up for you"

"Yes, it definitely moves them up."

What is your top 5 at this point?

"It would be Michigan, Kansas, Xavier, Florida, and Michigan State."

What are your remaining summer plans?

"I'm going to be attending different open gyms at various schools and I'm just going to keep working on my game."

Have you thought anymore about a date that you might want to have your decision made by?

"I'm going to take a couple of visits to some schools. After I see what they have to offer, I might commit to whatever school I like the most. I probably won't sign with a school until the late signing period."

GBW will continue to monitor this situation as it progresses.
