A school that Michigan is targeting quite a few prospects from is Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman High School. The powerhouse football program is stocked with several standouts like 2018 outside linebacker Palaie Gaoteote, who the Wolverines have had their sights on for a while.
Earlier this week, Michigan entered the mix for Gaoteote, who he’s very intrigued with.
“I actually was told through my position coach here at Gorman (Chris Brown) to call coach Chris Partridge who offered me,” Gaoteote told The Michigan Insider. “I can't tell you how happy I am to have this offer! I like them, they're a great program with a rich tradition. Right now, (my interest) is real high, just like all my other schools I have offers from.”
However, this Maize and Blue offer came as a big surprise to him, but one he’s very excited about and a place he hopes to see during his recruitment.
“Yeah it did (come out of the blue),” said Gaoteote. “Michigan has a great, great program and is top notch. I love what they are doing and feel like I will fit there as well. I like how great and top notch of a program Michigan is as well as what they think of me as a linebacker. I do plan on (visiting) sometime either this upcoming summer or next year.”
Michigan joins Nebraska, Notre Dame, UNLV, Utah, Washington, Washington State and Wisconsin as part of the 6-2, 210-pounder’s offer list. Although, he’s seen a spike in interest and offers, his goals are still very much on their upcoming season.
“Right now, I haven't put much thought into making a top schools list at all,” said Gaoteote. “Right now, I’m just worried about training hard, having a standout junior season and winning a third national high school football championship with my brothers.”
