He gave his coach several props, complimented the coaching staffs of all the schools, and then he made his announcement, "I'll be attending the University of Michigan." Afterwards, he opened it up for questions. GBW was honored to ask the first. The obvious one..., "Why Michigan?"
"I think it's the tradition at Michigan. In the 90's, I think it was the last five quarterback's they've developed made it in the NFL. That's an eye-catcher right there," Henne said. "Meeting with John Navarre when I went up to Michigan in June really told me how Scot Loeffler had developed him since he came to Michigan." Chad then elaborated on things, saying that it helped, "seeing all the players and how they love to be there, how they love the coaches, and how Michigan really develops a person there."
Chad had even more to say about Loeffler. "Scot Loeffler is a great guy. The first time I met him it seemed like I knew him forever, and he's a good friend of mine. One of the reasons I picked Michigan was that he was a player there and he got recruited there as one of the top quarterback's in the nation out of high school. He know's what he's talking about."
Henne said the U-M coaches orginally told him they would red-shirt him, but now that has changed. "Last year they told me they were going to red-shirt me. But, this year they said no,.. we're going to have you work hard in the off-season before you come up, and then you're to battle it out for the starting job."
Stay tuned, we'll have more, including Henne's comments on his momentous June visit.
