Top 2017 athlete C.J. Cotman is one of the most sought after athletes from the sunshine state.
In fact, in late February he told Scout.com that his top five schools included Michigan, Ohio State, Florida, TCU and Ole Miss.
However, his tune has since changed. He is now saying he will unleash his new top 10 later this month. And While Michigan was part of his initial top-five, the Wolverines’ recruitment of the Clearwater (Fla.) Central Catholic standout has cooled off recently, he says.
“I happen to like Michigan, they’re in my top 10 right now,” Cotman said. “But we really don’t communicate like that anymore. We’ve fell off the past couple months since I had got the offer. But they are in my top 10, I am still looking at them.”
Despite the lack of communication lately with U-M, Cotman says his plan is still come up to Ann Arbor this summer for a visit.
“This summer I am trying to head up there,” Cotman said. “We’re just trying to figure out a date to get up there.”
Adding: “I just want to check out their atmosphere (at Michigan). When I go there I just want to see if I could see myself there in the future.”
Cotman had more positive things to say about the Wolverines.
“Coach (Jim) Harbaugh is a real good coach,” Cotman said. “Everybody I speak to speaks highly of him. And my dad, my uncle, and me, we all like Michigan. I can see myself playing there.”
And if he does chose Michigan, Cotman says U-M’s coaching staff will welcome him with open arms at his position of his liking.
“As long as I get there, they’ll said they’ll be happy and figure it out then,” Cotman said.
Cotman has been on the recruiting trail lately checking out schools that have offered him, including Miami (Fla.), Florida, Florida State, Georgia and Southern Florida among others.
“In a program, what I am looking for if I go there if I can start, most definitely,” Cotman said. “I am looking for a good coaching, great players and godly people.”

As of right now, Cotman says his plans are to announce his commitment on national signing day 2017.
