Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei High School is school that consistently churns out prospects. The powerhouse football program has another good one in 2019 quarterback J.T. Daniels. The talented youngster traveled out to Ann Arbor with his 7-on-7 team to check out the Wolverines and left liking everything he saw and heard.
“I got a full trip with my 7-on-7 team and had a great time with all the coaches of Michigan,” Daniels told The Michigan Insider. “It's definitely a school I like. I met (Head) Coach (Jim) Harbaugh and (Director of Player Personnel) Coach Tony (Tuioti) and talked about the school and the experience of Michigan. I was very impressed. I'm definitely interested with Michigan and I like the spirit of the city and the team. It was a very hardworking and grinding vibe I got from what I saw.”
What stood out the most to Daniels on his visit was the presentation given by the headman himself, Jim Harbaugh.
“Coach Harbaugh’s presentation,” said Daniels. “I could tell the kind of coach he was from how he spoke. He was a man I’d love to play for! Coach Harbaugh told us straight up how he coaches and why. It was great to hear him talk as he reminded me of Coach Rollo.”
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound gunslinger already holds a few early offers from Arizona State, BYU, California, Notre Dame, UCLA and Washington, but an offer from the Wolverines is one he definitely hopes to add to his offer list.
“It would be an incredible honor to have such a prestigious offer,” Daniels said if he received a Michigan offer. “I hope so to make it back out to Michigan! It was a great experience and I’d like to check it out again.”
