Michigan is looking to further fortify its linebacker ranks in the 2017 class and one of the top targets on the board is Oxford (Ala.) standout K.J. Britt. And while his offer list is a who’s who of southern powers, he says making it up to Ann Abor remains a priority.
“I haven’t (schedule the visit) yet,” said Britt. “I talked to them (Thursday). I’m trying to get up there. I just don’t know when.”
That’s significant considering the scuttlebutt suggesting he was on the verge of committing to Auburn this month. When asked if a decision might be on the horizon he put the rumors to bed.
“Nah not right now,” he said. “I’ve got a top ten (still under consideration).”
Joining the aforementioned SEC schools on that list are Florida, Clemson, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, and Michigan. He plans to choose between them on August 8th. In the meantime he insists that the lone northern school in the bunch is a viable contender. One of the reasons is his consistent contact with Michigan recruiting coordinator Antonio “Bam” Richards.
“I love Coach Bam,” said Britt. “He’s from Bama.”
The Maize & Blue is making it a point to return that love. The latest edit sent to him by way of Ann Arbor is one he is calling the best he has received so far.
