Recruiting has been going well for Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei junior outside linebacker Fa'avae Fa'avae, as evidenced by an offer list that has now eclipsed a dozen. Even so, the Golden State standout is hopeful that other programs will join the mix. Michigan is among those he covets the most.
“I’ve been in talks (with Michigan),” Fa’avae told The Michigan Insider. “I’ve been talking with Coach Tuioti and he said they are definitely interested, love my tape, and they'll be here to check me out for spring ball.”
Despite no offer, the 6-1, 210-pounder insists the Wolverines are in strong standing in his recruitment.
“Absolutely (I’m interested),” said Fa’avae. “My three top reasons in picking a program is academics, family atmosphere and definitely scheme. Michigan fits all three.”
“Actually all my offers are a total blessing especially because how difficult it is to attain one, let alone several. For Michigan to offer, that would be huge! However, as my Pops has advised me, it's not how many, but it's choosing the right one for me both short and long term.”
Another significant part of Michigan's allure is the fast rapport Fa’avae’s has built with Tuioti.
“So far so good (of his relationship with Coach Tuioti),” said Fa’avae. “I'm kinda biased because we are both of Polynesian descent, so there's a comfort level there and he’s definitely personable.”
“We are hoping to get up there soon. I'm definitely interested & hoping to visit soon!”
