FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Indianapolis (Ind.) Pike 2017 point guard Justin Roberts already holds notable offers from DePaul and Bradley, and is also hearing considerable interest from other top programs from around the country.
And you can count Michigan among those schools showing interest, Roberts says.
“They have kept in contact with me every week,” Roberts said. “They have talked to my head coach at my school every week. They came to all of EYBL (AAU tournament) games. They’ve ben in contact with my AAU coach, too. He’s talking about how much they want me, stuff like that.”
Robert says he’s had a chance to talk with Michigan coach John Beilein, and his feedback so far has been positive.
“He really likes my game,” Robert said of Beilein. “He really likes how I lead my team. He really likes how I play as a point guard. (U-M assistant Jeff) Meyer agrees with him too.”
And if Michigan were to offer, Roberts admits it would go a long way in his recruitment.
“It would mean a lot,” Roberts said of a potential offer. “It’s close to home. Michigan has a lot of history. It would mean a lot for me and my family.”
Next up, Robert says he would like to attend U-M’s one day basketball camp this summer.
“I went last year and they really like how I was playing,” Roberts said. “If I go this year, I’ll show them what I do, as far as leading the team, what I do in AAU basically.”
As far as what he’s looking for in a program, Roberts says he has his ideas of a perfect fit.
“I’ll be looking at what city it’s in,” Roberts said. “What the school can offer for me as far as my education and for my family.”
Roberts plans to commit before his senior season.
