A name to watch coming up is Saint George (Utah.) Desert Hills sophomore offensive tackle Penei Sewell. The 6-5, 285-pound road grader has picked up early offers from Arizona State, Nevada, Oklahoma, Tennessee, UCLA, Utah and Utah State so far, but saw his offer list grow even more this week.
The standout lineman talked with Wolverine offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Tim Drevno and shortly thereafter, he added an offer.
“Michigan wanted to get a hold of me and I called the offensive line coach,” Sewell told The Michigan Insider. “He first introduced himself and then was asking about my lifestyle and how I'm doing. He asked about academics and he then he offered. He told me how much they want me and just told me to keep up the good work. I was excited and still am excited.”
While the offer definitely came as a shocker to Sewell, he says it is also a true honor and blessing as well.
“I wasn't expecting this offer at all,” said Sewell. “I'm just extremely happy and blessed. Getting an offer from Michigan is a true blessing. I'm very honored to have received an offer. I'm thankful for them for believing in me this early.”
Sewell isn’t too familiar towards the history of the Wolverine program, but is eager to continue to monitor them going forward. Especially knowing they have produced some of the game’s best.
"I don't know too much about Michigan, but I'm excited to see where they stand throughout my recruiting process,” said Sewell. “As of right now, I only know famous players that came out of there like Charles Woodson and Tom Brady.”
With his latest offer from the Wolverines, Sewell certainly now plans to visit Ann Arbor in the future.
“Absolutely (plan on visiting Michigan),” said Sewell. “Can't wait to plan one.”
