Macomb (Mich.) Dakota 2018 power forward Thomas Kithier is a player on the rise in Michigan.
In fact, top in-state schools Michigan and Michigan State have already taken notice of his talents, with U-M showing considerable interest as of late.
“They’ve been showing me interest,” he said of Michigan. “They’ve been saying they really like my game. (Michigan coach) John Beilein has been talking to me, and I have been up there for visits for football games and basketball games.”
While Kithier’s interest in Michigan is on the rise, Beilein has told him he still needs to work on some parts of his game before earning a potential offer.
“They said I needed to work on my three point shooting and perimeter skills more,” he said before U-M extends an offer his way. “They said they have five scholarships at every positon in 2018. They told me it was likely I was going to get one.”
And if Michigan were to offer, Kithier admits it would mean something in his recruitment.
“It would mean a lot,” he said. “I really like Michigan. It would be one of my top schools if they offered me.”
At the moment, Kithier says Michigan, Michigan State and Xavier are the top-three schools looking at him right now. He says he’s planning a visit to MSU later this month.
“I’m looking where I’ll play, where they will use me,” he said. “Then academics, what I want to major in. I got to figure out how my schooling is going to go too.”
Kithier says he’s planning on attending Michigan’s one day elite camp later this summer, too.
“I am just looking for everything,” he said of his next visit to U-M. “I have to see every situation through. I just want to see how I fit in their program.”
