One of the most highly regarded prospects in the nation is Calabasas (Calif.) junior cornerback Darnay Holmes. The five-star athlete has double-digit offers from all over the country including one from the Wolverines.
Michigan has targeted the Golden State standout for a while and has been a top priority for head coach Jim Harbaugh. The Wolverine headman recently made contact with Holmes and hopes to get him in the fold to become part of what they are building in Ann Arbor.
Now, he’s planning on seeing it for himself and what all they have to offer this fall.
“I was actually on the phone with Harbaugh yesterday and they are definitely getting an official,” Holmes told The Michigan Insider. “I also got some work in this morning with David (Long) and he's going to make an impact. It’s a great school on and off the field. They play against great teams plus get a great degree.”
“(He was saying) how he's creating a monster up there at Michigan. It definitely makes sense and that's why I am considering and playing close attention. The Jordan deal is also insane. It’s mind blowing and very original! David is going to love it.”
A feather in Michigan’s cap could be fellow California native in 2016 signee, David Long, who the 5-10, 185-pounder has built a strong bond with and is a major reason for the interest and official.
“He's pretty much my brother,” said Holmes. “We grew up together and he just says how crazy it would be if we both end up playing with each other! David on one side and myself on the other is dangerous. That's why I am considering (Michigan) and taking an official.”
Scout’s overall No. 11 rated prospect also has created a solid connection with Harbaugh, who he has complete faith in.
“He's a very cool guy with a great resume and he knows how to do great things,” said Holmes. “Definitely believe in his philosophy.”
Holmes currently is open in his recruitment and has no top list
