WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Michigan has been ramping up its interest in Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech 2017 OG Jordan Reid for sometime now, with the Wolverines earning another visit from the four-star standout last week.
Unlike previous visits to U-M, Reid this time brought along his some of family to see what U-M is all about.
“Unfortunately my mother couldn’t make it, so it was my father and my uncle and the visit went very well,” he said. “We toured the campus, toured all the facilities, weight room, field, I sat down with (Jim) Harbaugh, me, my dad and my uncle, and just talked football.”
And Reid’s father, well, he “loved” what U-M had to offer during their stay, says Reid.
“My dad loved it, says it’s the best visit he’s been on so far,” Reid said of his father, adding: “I’m happy for him, I’m glad he got a feel for it. Obviously it opens his interest and my interest a little bit more.”
That being said, what is standing out about Michigan so far?
“It’s close to home,” Reid said. “I see coach (Tim) Drevno a lot, he comes to the school a lot. I ma getting a feel for (Michigan) and starting to enjoy it.”
Adding: “I talk to (Drevno) on the phone, (he tells me) if I come to Michigan I would most likely play guard,” Reid said. “And with my athleticism I think I would do pretty good.”
In the meantime, Reid says his plan is to “definitely” get mom on U-M’s campus for a visit. He also says he’s planning campus visits to Tennessee and Florida.
“I’m looking for stability, that’s my number one thing,” Reid said when asked what he’s looking for in a program. “If the coaches are not moving around every year, stability. Also my teammates I am going to be with the next four years.”
At the moment, Reid says he has no timetable set for his final commitment. His top-five schools still consists of Michigan, Michigan State, Pittsburg, Florida and Tennessee.
