WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Already with notable offers from Michigan, Michigan State and Tennessee, Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech 2018 cornerback Kalon Gervin is starting to get more interest nationwide – particularly in the south.
In fact, Gervin says Alabama, Ole Miss, Arkansas and Auburn have all been showing considerable interest as of late, with another possible SEC offer on the horizon, he says.
“I think Arkansas is real close,” he said. “Auburn and Alabama want me to come down.”
Adding: “I’m just going to try to hit up as many schools as I can down south. I know I am going to hit up a Alabama camp for sure (in July).”
He also noted that he plans on checking out Virginia Tech and Maryland this summer as well.
As for Michigan, well, Gervin has taken a liking to his U-M area recruiter, Tyrone Wheatley, with his recruiting approach.
“He’s just real cool,” Gervin said of Wheatley. “He’s straight forward. He really doesn’t talk about football a lot. He really don’t. He talks about life and school, all that stuff.”
Next up, Gervin says his plan is to get back on U-M’s campus for another fun experience.
“When I go to Michigan I just look to have fun,” Gervin said. “It’s always a good place, a welcoming place.”
In the meantime, however, Gervin is working on his game individually this summer as he heads into his junior year at Cass.
“I’m working on turnovers and coming out of my breaks,” Gervin said. “That’s about it. That’s really what I’ve been focusing on. Everything else like fundamentals and stuff like that.”
