Michigan Offers “Best Of Both Worlds” To Holmes

The Wolverines recently extended an offer out to Cheshire (Conn.) Academy standout athlete C.J. Holmes. The versatile prospect discusses his latest offer from Michigan.

One of the top athletes in the East is Cheshire (Conn.) Academy junior athlete C.J. Holmes, who has seen his recruitment start to rise when he earned an invitation to The Opening Finals.

Over the past week, he has added several offers including one from Michigan. It was an offer he couldn’t stop smiling about.

“I found out from coach Don Brown on a phone call and when I heard that Michigan was going to offer when he said it, all I could do was smile,” Holmes told The Michigan Insider. “It’s a great opportunity from a really big football program and a great conference and I was just happy as ever.”

Holmes received the offer from Wolverines defensive coordinator Don Brown. Despite the recent contact, the conversation wasn’t their first together. Their relationship stems back to Brown’s coaching days at Chestnut Hill.

“I like Coach Brown a lot,” said Holmes. “He was actually one of the coaches at Boston College, who offered me my first offer, so our connection is great.”

The 6-0, 196-pounder, who ranks as the No. 27 athlete in the country and a four-star recruit by Scout, has now had his interest greatly piqude in the Wolverines, especially knowing what all they have to offer.

“(I'm) extremely interested,” said Holmes. “I love the team because of the program and the level of education that comes at the school. It's another opportunity that presents what some would call the best of both worlds.”

Now, Holmes also hopes to check out Ann Arbor this summer.

“I want to try to get to campus in June,” said Holmes.”
