WESTERVILLE, Ohio –Three-star 2017 OT Joel Honigford received his offer from Michigan Wolverines in mid-April, and the Wolverines have continued to ramp up their recruiting effort with the Sugarcreek (Ohio) Garaway star ever since.
“They came this past week to visit (my) school,” he said of U-M. “I think they are coming again next week, something like that to visit again. They seem pretty interested, and I’m pretty interested in them as well.”
Michigan offensive line coach Tim Drevno has made it clear to Haniford that there is ample opportunity at U-M if he were to choose the Wolverines, too.
“He said early playing time,” he said of Drevno. “I know a lot colleges say that. He said they are taking five (lineman) in the class and seems pretty sincere about it. So I’m excited about that.”
Adding: “I like him a lot. Obviously we just started talking here the past few weeks. But I like him a lot; he seems like a fun guy. He’s intense but passionate about what he is doing.”
Now that he has the offer, Honigford says his plan is to get on U-M’s campus for a visit this summer.
“(I want to see their) facilities, I want to see (their) academics, what they have going on there,” he said.
Other than Michigan, Honiford says Michigan State, Auburn and Ohio State are some of his notable schools in his recruitment. He also noted that he plans to check out Oklahoma, Maryland and LSU this summer.
