Eze Caught Off Guard By Wolverine Offer

One of the top emerging prospects in the 2017 class is Nashville (Tenn.) Davidson Academy junior offensive tackle Obinna Eze. Holding several offers already, the four-star lineman picked up another one, this time unexpectedly from the Wolverines.

Nashville (Tenn.) Davidson Academy junior offensive tackle Obinna Eze is becoming a well-known commodity in the recruiting world. At 6-foot-7, 270-pounds, he possesses the athleticism, size, length and feet to excel at the next level. Many programs have already pulled the trigger with an offer and earlier this week, he picked up another from Michigan, which he wasn’t expecting.

“My coach told me to give Jay (Harbaugh) a call,” Eze told The Michigan Insider. “I did and he said he admires my improvement and handwork, then he offered me. It felt pretty good and I didn’t see it coming. It’s really nice to know that schools outside the SEC think good of me too. I'm just grateful to God and I'm looking forward to developing a great relationship with Michigan.”

The four-star prospect doesn’t know too much about Michigan, but did enjoy seeing the Maize and Blue’s success this past season.

“I watched Michigan a lot last year, but I really don't know much about them off the football field,” said Eze. “I definitely will start getting to know them better. I thought they played really good and have a great offensive line. I had fun watching them.”

Eze looks to visit Ann Arbor after picking up the offer in the future, but for now plans to not worry about favorites in his recruitment and work towards another big year on the gridiron.

“Nope (don’t have a top list), all my focus is going into having a great season.”
