Orlando (Fla.) Dr. Phillips 2017 defensive end Robert Porcher IV discusses his Michigan offer and more.

Orlando (Fla.) Dr. Phillips 2017 defensive end Robert Porcher IV is already considered one of the top prospects from the Sunshine state, and just recently received an offer from the Wolverines.

“It feels good,” Porcher IV said. “The Michigan offer came out of blue. The defensive coordinator (Don Brown) had came to our school a couple weeks before the D-line coach (Greg Mattison) came down. They had their eye on me and they were thinking about me. Then the D-line coach came down and my coach told me the news. They wanted to see me in person."

“It was a big offer, that's big time. I was shocked -- it was a surprise. I'm thankful for it.”

With the offer, Porcher IV can total his offer sheet to 34 schools, including Arizona, Maryland and Nebraska among others. But still he admits, he has no favorites.

“There’s just a lot of schools showing love right now. Texting me and making sure I'm doing what I'm supposed to,” he said, further adding on possible visits. “I'm going to take my visits. Some schools I'm going to visit in June and some schools I'll be going to visit in July. I don't know which schools yet, I'll have to plan that out.

“I'll be going North, South, probably West Coast.”

Back to Michigan, however, Porcher IV admits there is a lot to like.

“I know they're a good team and have a good education up there,” he said. “I'm familiar with Ann Arbor, I'm just getting to know the new staff and just talking to different coaches. I'm just getting the feel for them. Just stuff they have to offer.”

And so far he’s pretty tight with Mattison and Brown.

“They're cool,” he said. “I have a good time talking to Coach Mattison and Coach Brown. I like the vibe.”

Next up Porcher IV says he’s planning to announce his top-10.

“I'll probably come out with a top ten or something like that this summer,” he said. “I was going to wait until after spring football was done because I knew schools like Michigan would come, I was just trying to wait until maybe.”

But one thing is clear, whichever school he chooses -- it will not be from the state of Florida.

“I'm trying to leave Florida,” he insisited. “I don't want to stay here, my family lives here. I just want to go somewhere different on my own.”
