Drevno says Newsome to start at LT, if season started today

With one opening on Michigan's starting offense line, most people think Grant Newsome will fill that spot. Well, so does U-M offensive coordinator Tim Drevno.

ANN ARBOR Mich. -- Michigan offensive coordinator Tim Drevno says sophomore Grant Newsome would be U-M's starter at left tackle -- if the season started today, that is.

However, U-M's first practice isn't till Aug. 8, and there is a lot of time for Drevno to change his mind, he said today to a group of reporters inside Michigan stadium.

“In my mind, yes, Newsome would start at left tackle,” Drevno said. “If we played tomorrow, but that can change.”

And we'll find out most certainly when U-M opens its season on Sept. 3 against Hawaii.
