Michigan will be bolstering its guard depth after adding a key transfer on Monday.
According to ESPN's Jeff Goodman on Twitter, Kentucky guard transfer Charles Matthews will be transferring to U-M.
The information corroborates with what The Michigan Insider's Sam Webb had been hearing earlier in the day ($).
The 6-foot-4, 190-pound guard will have to sit out the upcoming season due to NCAA transfer rules, he will have three years of eligibility left. Matthews left Kentucky as he was seeking to expand a role that saw him have mainly bench minutes despite playing in every game for Wildcats last season. Matthews averaged only 10 minutes and just under two points a game.
Coming out of high school, Matthews was a four-star recruit and was ranked No. 80 in the 2015 class according to the Scout.com rankings.
