Already with notable offers from UCLA, Oregon, Nebraska and Utah, among others, 2017 safety Trajon Cotton came to Michigan's joint satellite camp with USC looking for possibly two more offers from the Wolverines and Trojans respectively.

“I’m talking to USC a lot,” Cotton said. “Last week I participated in USC’s camp. That was my first camp this summer. I was the top performer there, I will be hearing from them soon.”

Adding: “They like a lot of Cali guys, I’m a Cali guy. I like USC a lot. They definitely will be on the list if I get that offer.”

By list, Cotton is referring to his top-five, which he says he will release later this summer.

That being said, how close is USC to offering Cotton?

“They said they like me a lot,” Cotton said of USC. “They are going to have a meeting with the defensive staff and see how much they like me.”

Cotton’s interest in U-M is right there with USC, he says.

“It’s just Michigan,” Cotton said of his interest in the Wolverines. “I know they are building something special with Jim Harbaugh. I’m probably going to do a couple 1-on-1s today. So, we’ll see.”

Adding: “I talked to (Jay) Harbaugh last (week) to see if they needed and DB’s, and he said yeah,” Cotton said of talks with U-M. “And they wanted to me come out here and show out, show some interest too.”

Being a California prospect, what does Cotton know about Michigan exactly?

“I know they are sponsored by Jordan now, I like that,” Cotton said. “I really don’t know a lot about Michigan, but I’ll definitely be looking into it.”

He also added if offered, he would “definitely” take an official visit to U-M this fall.

No matter which school Cotton chooses in the end, he says he’ll be looking at certain factors in each program as he narrows down his decision.

“My vibe with the coaching staff,” Cotton said. “Do I feel like home? Am I wanted and needed there? I’m not just a player they need. I want to feel wanted there. I want to feel like home. I want to be part of the family.”

Cotton says distance will not play a factor in his final decision. He says he will “most likely” announce his commitment after his senior season is complete.
