One of the top defensive back prospects in Michigan is River Rouge (Mich.) 2018 safety Reggie Pearson. The rising safety has picked up a number of offers and is receiving interest from several other programs so far.
He gives the latest on his recruitment.
“Its going good, but slowing down a little,” Pearson told The Michigan Insider. I have offers from Wisconsin, Iowa State, Syracuse, Miami of Ohio, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Akron, Toledo, Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan. Lately (I’ve been hearing) from Missouri, Michigan State, Minnesota, Iowa, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, Duke, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, UCLA, Stanford, and Buffalo.”
With new offers and interest still coming in, one program that he hasn’t had much communication as of late is the hometown Wolverines. Still, that hasn’t changed his positive outlook on them.
“Last time, (I talked with them) was a few months ago, (tight ends coach) Jay Harbaugh said they wanted to offer me, but haven't yet,” said Pearson. “I’m very (interested)! It's a home school and have a winning tradition, not to mention, they also rank #5 in the country in engineering program.”
If the Maize and Blue were to extend an offer to the in-state safety prospect, how big would that be?
“Wow, that would be huge and they would definitely would be in my top 3,” said Pearson.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder currently sits with a top list of Iowa State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Wisconsin and UCLA in no order. However, it’s not a list set in stone, but one thing that is for certain is the criteria he will consider when he decides sometime his junior year.
“Graduation rate of athletes, location, my major, and does this school really want me,” said Pearson.
