BEAVERTON, Ore. – Five-star running back Cam Akers can go anywhere in the country.
That’s proof in his offer sheet alone. He already holds notable offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida State and Ohio State, among others.
And you can count Michigan against that group, too.
In fact, the Wolverines have made a strong push in Akers’ recruitment as of late, and the Clinton (Miss.) standout is heavily considering a visit to U-M’s campus sometime soon.
“Really just trying to get on campus,” Akers said of U-M. “That’s really just been the main thing. I got to try to plan to get up there. I’m trying to see if I want to go up there for a game or not to take an official. That’s really the pant to get up there, that’s really the plan right there.”
However, Akers says he’s uncertain if he will take an official visit to Michigan or not. Though he did indicate if he did visit, it would be most likely be for an official visit.
That being said, Akers admits his relationship with U-M running backs coach Tyrone Wheatley has continued to get stronger in his recruitment.
“It’s a good relationship,” he says of Wheatley. “He came down to school a few times. He texts me, he hits me up. It’s a good relationship ongoing, he’s trying to get me out there.”
Akers plans to graduate early and announce his decision after his senior season of high school.
