BEAVERTON, Ore. – At The Opening Finals last weekend, five-star 2018 cornerback Patrick Surtain said his top-five schools included: LSU, Florida State, Clemson, Miami (Fla.) and Florida.
That being said, he did admit he’s still vey much interested in schools from the Big Ten – specifically – Michigan. Why? Well, Surtain took part in U-M’s satellite camp in south Florida in June, and walked away with a positive experience, he says.
“It was fun being able to meet the couches, coach (Jim) Harbaugh (and) coach (Devin) Bush, he coached at Flanagan before,” Surtain said. “So it was great talking to them.”
Now Surtain says he would like to make a trek up to Ann Arbor sometime soon.
“I want to visit Michigan this summer,” he said. “Everybody is telling me it’s great, the facilities, the coaching staff treats you right. That they are championship bound every year.”
And it helps that Surtain will have close friend on campus if or when he chooses to visit U-M.
“I’m very close with Devin Bush Jr.,” he said. “Devin Bush wanted me to come up there actually. We are very cool.”
Adding: “He hasn’t told me much about the school, but he says it’s very nice. Cause I got my teammate Kai-Leon Herbert, he’s committed there, and he says it’s very nice too.”
Surtain says he wants to make his commitment during his senior season.
