Hudson updates recruitment; visit plans

With news recently coming out that Toledo (OH.) Central Catholic 2017 defensive end James Hudson plans on letting his verbal commitment be known soon, he discusses the latest with his recruitment and much more inside.

Toledo (OH.) Central Catholic 2017 defensive end James Hudson is considered one of the top defensive linemen in the Midwest. The three-star prospect has been a priority for the Wolverine coaching staff for a while now. Despite announcing on Twitter his plans of committing soon, he still plans on returning to Michigan for their BBQ at the Big House on August 6th.

“I am (coming for the BBQ),” Hudson told The Michigan Insider. “Yes, I have (recently heard from Michigan) in Coach Zordich, Coach Mattison and Coach Tuioti. They have said that I could really help them and things like that.”

One of the coaches that he’s forged a strong bond with is defensive line coach Greg Mattison, who's someone he highly respects.

“Me and Coach Mattion have a great relationship,” said Hudson. “Definitely one of my favorite coaches because he knows what he’s talking about. Knows the game very well and knows what it takes to get to the highest level.”

This trip up to Ann Arbor won’t be a first for the 6-foot-5, 280-pounder as he traveled up earlier this summer and created a strong relationship with Wolverine freshman defensive tackle, Rashan Gary.

“Our relationship is great,” said Hudson. “I actually just talked to him yesterday. He thinks the same thing that me and him together would be dominant. I am (getting tight with him). That would be absolutely crazy (playing together). I know what he’s capable of and I know what I’m capable of. All I can say is scary.”

Before that visit to Ann Arbor takes place, Hudson will check out East Lansing and see what the Spartans have to offer.

“I’m visiting Michigan State on Thursday,” said Hudson. “(I want to) just see some things I never got to see.”

With visits to Michigan State and Michigan slated upcoming, Hudson isn’t sure if he will go visit any other programs, but does know what he will be looking for when decision time comes.

“Just how I connect with the coach and how these next visits go,” said Hudson.
