N.J. DE Dewayne Hendricks

I talked Sunday evening to defensive end Dwayne Hendricks from Millville, New Jersey. He filled me in on his pending U-M visit, and on his other visits as well.

The phone rang early Sunday evening -- it was defensive end Dwayne Hendricks (PSU Nike stats: 6-4, 250 lbs., 4.8 in the 40, 30 inch vertical jump … 3.2 GPA/910 SAT) from Millville, New Jersey. i started out by asking him whether his lights had been out the last few days.

"No, we didn't lose our power. It's because we're close to Philly than New York I guess."

Dwayne, are you planning another Michigan visit this fall?

"Yes I am."

Your coach told us in the spring that you and he would probably visit for the Oct. 25 Purdue game. Is that the game?

"Yes, that's the one. A former player from here plays for Purdue."

Will it be an unofficial visit, or official?

"It'll be an official visit."

You've already visited Michigan once, during their spring practice. What happened at that visit?

"Yes, my coach and I went. We watched practice, and we talked to pretty much every Michigan coach. That's when we set up the fall visit. We also met with Coach Carr -- that's when he offered me a Michigan scholarship."

Where did you visit this summer?

"I went to Notre Dame Camp for four days, and to the Georgia Tech Camp for two days. And I went to NC-State and North Carolina for unofficial visits."

Where else are you visiting this fall?

"Besides Michigan, I'm also going this fall to Miami and Iowa, for official visits."

Do you have a favorite, or list of favorites?

"I'm not sure ... I don't really have one favorite now ... I'm not going to narrow it down until I take more visits. I'm just listing eight or ten schools: Michigan, Iowa, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Miami, Florida, Georgia Tech, and Oklahoma. They've all offered me."

Have you started fall practice? When is your first game? And what positions are you playing?

"We had our had first practice just yesterday. Our first game is Sept. 13th. I'll be playing both ways. On defense I'll move it around between defensive end, defensive tackle and nose tackle. On offensive I'll play tackle. We were just 2-8 last year ... we'll be better this year."

As a junior Hendricks made 65 tackles and three sacks. He is TheInsiders.com's #32 prospect, and Tom Lemming's #3 defensive tackle.
