Vilain puts on recruiting hat for U-M

Alexandria (VA.) Episcopal 2017 defensive end and Wolverine commit, Luiji Vilain discusses his time spent at Michigan’s BBQ at the Big House.

Michigan had many top targets in town for their annual BBQ at the Big House, but also saw many of their committed prospects around taking in all the festivities like Alexandria (VA.) Episcopal 2017 defensive end, Luiji Vilain. The four-star commit recaps his experience and getting to meet Wolverine talented freshman defensive lineman, Rashan Gary.

“It went really well,” Vilain told The Michigan Insider. “I enjoyed myself. It was cool meeting Rashan (Gary) and that he’s excited we're going to play together. I can’t wait.”

The 6-foot-4, 238-pound speed rusher has formed a solid relationship with the Wolverine coaching staff and caught up with them once again at the BBQ, where they reminded him of their excitement having him in the fold.

“I talked with all of them and basically the same thing (they have been telling me) how they are excited about me and can’t wait until I get there,” said Vilain.

While Vilain enjoyed hanging out with the players and eating lots of food, he made it a priority to put on his recruiting hat as well.

“Of course (I recruited), me and the other commits tried to speak to everyone that wasn’t committed,” said Vilain. “I talked with James Hudson, Nico Collins, Donovan Peoples-Jones, Jaylen Kelly-Powell, Ambry Thomas, and Najee Harris. They all seemed to really like it.”
