Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh revealed Monday he does know who the starting quarterback will be for Saturday's opener against Hawaii.

Jim Harbaugh has his quarterback.

Emerging from Michigan's fall camp submarine Monday afternoon, the second year head coach of the Wolverines revealed after weeks of competition, it's clear who the starting quarterback will be Saturday against Hawaii.

"Yeah, we know who our starting quarterback is, yes," Harbaugh said. "And yeah I'll say who our starting quarterback is before Saturday."

Never one to deliver more details than necessary, Harbaugh was asked whether or not an announcement could come prior to the season opener.

"I didn't say I was going to say it to you before Saturday," Harbaugh quickly added.

The competition appears to have come down to Wilton Speight or John O'Korn, with Shane Morris and Brandon Peters competing down the depth chart.

Harbaugh did say the team is aware of who the quarterback will be for Saturday, although senior tight end Jake Butt said he didn't know Monday afternoon.

Butt does believe those in the quarterback room have been informed of the decision at this point.

Regardless of who winds up taking the first snap under center, Harbaugh believes great progress has been made as a whole.

"It's been very good, really from day one the competition at the quarterback position and the play at the quarterback position has been very good," Harbaugh said.

"I feel like it's improving as well, daily, weekly, all the quarterbacks are playing at a very high level."
