Regarding Marlin Jackson, Carr would not say whether there would be team penalties, but said, "In regard to that issue, it is clear he (Marlin) was telling the truth ... [However] Marlin put himself in a position that something happened that is not something he wanted to happen ... I've never defended poor behavior, and I never will, and that behavior was not something Marlin feels good about, nor do I."
Regarding the back-up quarterback, Matt Gutierrez has won the job due to Spencer Brinton's chronic arm problems: "He (Brinton) has had an aggravated problem that has held him out some."
Michigan is in good shape injury-wise, with the following minor situations. Linebacker Carl Diggs is basically has regained his full speed, but has missed a few days of practice because of stiffness in his right leg (that was broken in the Ohio State game). Linebacker Zack Kaufman's knee is still keeping him at part-time duty. Safety Willis Barringer had minor surgery on a thumb Tuesday and will miss a few practices. And OLB Shawn Crable has a banged up shoulder
Regarding place kicking, Phil Brabbs' kicking leg remains injured and Troy Nienburg will kickoff. Adam Finley and freshman Garrett Rivas are still competing for the place kicking job.
Regarding punt returning, Steve Breason is 'the guy'.
Regarding the Oct. 11 Minnesota game scheduled to the Metrodome in Minneapolis. The MBL Minnesota Twins may have a home playoff game on that date, so the Gophers want to reschedule the football game for Friday night (Oct. 10). U-M says "No" to a Friday game and wants to move the Oct. 11 game, suggesting Detroit's Ford Field -- to which Minnesota says "No."
